Private Chauffeur and Local Guide in India: Book Both Together
Visit 2 India has built its name on private chauffeur-driven journeys across North India. Today we are adding a second service to go with it: a government-approved local guide, booked through us alongside your driver.
That means one enquiry, one quotation and one invoice for the car and the guide. If you have ever planned a trip around a private driver and wondered who would explain the sights, this is how it works.
What is new: chauffeur and guide in one booking
Your chauffeur gets you safely and comfortably from city to city. A local guide takes you through the places themselves. Many travellers who hire a private driver also want a guide, and arranging one separately means more searching and a second payment. With our new service you can ask for both in one go, from the same team you are already speaking to about your route.
The guide service is optional. Plenty of travellers prefer to explore on their own, and your chauffeur trip works exactly as before without a guide. If you do want one, you simply ask for it when you request your quote. You can read how we describe the full service on our Services page.
What a government-approved guide does on your itinerary
A guide covers the sightseeing visits agreed in your itinerary. At each stop they bring the context that a map or guidebook cannot: the history behind the building, the architecture, local stories, and practical advice on what is worth your time.
Take a first-time trip on the Golden Triangle. In Delhi, a guide can take you through places such as the Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb. In Agra, they can walk you through the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. In Jaipur, they can explain Amber Fort and the City Palace. Your driver handles the roads and timing while the guide handles the stories. For a full day-by-day route, see our 4-day Golden Triangle itinerary by car.
Every guide we arrange is a government-approved local guide.
Languages available (subject to availability)
Guides are available in English, Spanish, French, Italian and many other languages, subject to availability. If you would like a guide in a particular language, tell us when you enquire and we will let you know what is available.
The earlier you let us know, the easier it is to match your request. Spanish, French and Italian speakers in particular may want to mention their language in the first message. Our page on guided tours in Spanish, French and Italian has more detail.
How guide charges appear on your quotation and invoice
Guide services are optional and are only included where your quotation expressly says so. If a guide is not named on your quotation, it is not part of your booking.
When you ask for one, the guide charges are shown clearly on your quotation and again on your invoice, alongside the chauffeur service. You book and pay for both together through Visit 2 India, so there is no separate contractor to find, contact or pay on the day.
What is included and excluded
The details matter, so here they are in plain terms.
Included, where your quotation says so:
A government-approved local guide for the sightseeing visits agreed in your itinerary.
Excluded, unless your quotation states otherwise:
Monument and attraction entrance fees.
Your quotation sets out exactly what is and is not covered. If anything is unclear, ask us before you confirm. Booking, payment and cancellation arrangements for guide services are set out in our Terms and Conditions, and we explain them step by step in our guide to booking, payment and inclusions.
Destinations covered
Government-approved local guides can be arranged across all the destinations our chauffeur services cover. That includes Delhi, Agra and Jaipur on the Golden Triangle, wider Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
In Punjab, for example, a guide can bring the history of Amritsar's Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh to life; see our post on Amritsar with a local guide. Browse all of our chauffeur destinations to see where we can take you.
How to add a guide to your quote
Send your enquiry. Tell us your dates, the cities you want to visit and how many people are travelling, using our contact and quote form.
Ask for a guide. Say that you would like a guide, and name your preferred language if you have one.
Review your quotation. Guide charges are shown clearly, so you can see exactly what is included and what is not.
Confirm and book. Your chauffeur and guide are booked and paid for together through Visit 2 India.
